 Rosie
Sunde's parents arrived here from Italy on the Andrea Doria in 1956, about
two months before the ship sank and three years before she was born. Rosie
was born and raised in the greater Seattle, Washington area.
Preparation for
Her Dream - Owning a Jewelry Store and Art Gallery "Being a wedding planner taught me to be precise, accurate and diligent," notes Rosie. In this position, she learned about all the tasks related to wedding planning: from negotiating with catering companies, to selecting appropriate formal wear, to creating invitations. This orientation to personal service and to detail is now demonstrated by her own company, 1st Class Gems. Being a wedding planner means working with one of the most demanding and sensitive customers: the bride! Rosie handled every situation with a smile. Her customers were delighted with her services and her positive approach. "We always pay attention to the details that make our customers happy." As a full-time mom, raising her own children taught Rosie innumerable lessons. She loved the job so much, in fact, that she started her own daycare center. "I realized that what children want - what anyone wants, really - is attention and love," she says. Then, as now in her business, Rosie understands that people simply want to be shown the attention and respect they deserve. This level of personal attentiveness is a trademark of 1st Class Gems. As the children became independent, she returned to the workplace as a customer service representative at Nordstrom. Rosie has excelled by demonstrating the best people skills. "If there's one thing you learn at Nordstrom - it's how to give good customer service! What they don't know is that I already knew that people just want to be respected and treated fairly!" In more than ten years there, she gained experience, learned even more about what people want, and also learned some things that she would NEVER do. "My philosophy about people after my years at Nordstrom is that they just want a little kindness, humor, love and admiration. If they get what they need, all the rest in life will pretty much take care of itself!" Upon leaving Nordstrom, Rosie took on the job of caring for her Grandmother. She is now 102 years old and lives with Rosie's family. "I can't bear the thought of Grandma being uncared for and alone in some nursing home, so even though it is a challenge sometimes, she's here with us!" As part of her dream of owning her own jewelry and art gallery, Rosie has met many fine artisans she is happy to share with you. Their combined accomplishments are proudly displayed for you within this website. She now has relationships with major manufacturers like Bovano, Kabana, and Porcelain Garden to offer one of the broadest selections in the industry.
